Toyota’s Accounting department is seeking a passionate and highly motivated Accounting Manager. This role is responsible for the accurate and timely month-end close process for Toyota Financial Savings Bank (TFSB), operating in a highly regulated banking environment. TFSB is supervised by the FDIC and the Nevada Financial Institutions Division and complies with consumer financial regulations. The position involves partnering with Accounting Policy and Financial Reporting to implement and operationalize accounting and reporting standards under US GAAP and IFRS, staying current on new guidance, and ensuring effective control design amid rapid growth.
Operational & General Accounting & Analysis, and related Controls & Governance:
• Lead the timely and accurate recording of business operations in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory requirements such as FDIC.
• Establish, implement, and maintain FDICIA controls and processes supporting accounting results, including oversight of shared services controls.
• Oversee all accounting activities, including the monthly general ledger close, and resolve complex technical accounting issues, audit findings, and regulatory concerns.
• Utilize SAP to automate processes and maximize system functionality; become the SAP SME for the bank.
• Analyze financial performance periodically and collaborate with the business to identify potential accounting issues.
Financial Reporting & Analysis:
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and analysis.
• Support quarterly and annual reporting activities, including Call Reports and TFSB financial statements.
• Coordinate with auditors and regulators during interim and year-end audits.
Technical Accounting Proficiency and Subject Matter Expertise:
• Interface with operations on new initiatives, assessing accounting treatment, disclosures, controls, and system impacts.
• Monitor new accounting guidance for impact analysis.
• Own TFSB accounting policies and ensure compliance with new requirements.
Projects, Automation, and Enterprise-wide initiatives:
• Lead implementation of projects related to bank operations.
• Develop and report on new business measures and analytics.
• Recommend process improvements and lead automation efforts to reduce manual work and risks.
Leadership and Organizational Management:
• Set performance expectations and provide development opportunities for team members.
• Deliver ongoing feedback and support team growth.
• Review organizational structure for efficiency.
• Lead talent planning and develop team skills.
• Bachelor’s degree required
• CPA with public accounting experience
• 5+ years of accounting and reporting experience in banking or captive finance
• Public accounting experience with a national firm
• Strong technical accounting expertise
• Leadership experience with team development
• Analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Master’s degree in Accounting
• Knowledge of Oracle Hyperion and SAP
