Job summary

Evlo AI is seeking an Accounting Manager to own the monthly close, technical accounting, and financial reporting for a scaling technology business in New York. You will lead a team of accountants and partner with FP&A, tax, payroll, and external auditors to ensure reliable books and timely SEC-ready reporting.

You will strengthen SOX controls, improve close-cycle efficiency, and translate complex accounting issues into clear recommendations for finance leadership.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience.
• At least 2 years of people management or mentoring accounting professionals.
• CPA license or active pursuit strongly preferred.
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, internal controls, SEC reporting.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, flux analysis, and close-calendar management
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reporting packages, and supporting schedules in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
• Manage revenue recognition, stock-based compensation, lease accounting, prepaids, fixed assets, intercompany activity, and other complex accounting areas
• Design, document, and test SOX controls; remediate control deficiencies and maintain audit-ready evidence in partnership with internal and external auditors
• Own the accounting workflow in an ERP such as NetSuite, including chart-of-accounts governance, system controls, reporting integrity, and process improvements
• Review technical accounting matters, research new FASB guidance, and prepare accounting memos and recommendations for leadership
• Coach and develop accounting staff while coordinating deliverables across FP&A, tax, payroll, legal, and finance operations

About The Role

The Accounting Manager owns the monthly close, technical accounting, and financial reporting processes for a scaling technology business. The role is responsible for accurate US GAAP reporting, account reconciliations, management reporting, and controls across revenue, expenses, accruals, fixed assets, and equity transactions. You will lead a team of accountants and partner with FP&A, legal, tax, payroll, and external auditors to maintain reliable books and timely SEC-ready reporting. The role also strengthens SOX controls, improves close-cycle efficiency, and translates complex accounting issues into clear recommendations for finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities

What We Are Looking For

• 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years managing or mentoring accounting professionals
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license or active pursuit strongly preferred
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, internal controls, SEC reporting, and technical accounting research
• Hands-on experience with monthly close, account reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and audit management
• Experience with NetSuite, Workday Financials, SAP, Oracle, or a comparable ERP; advanced Excel skills including pivot tables, lookups, and financial models
• Strong analytical, written, and cross-functional communication skills, with the ability to manage deadlines in a high-growth environment
• Bonus: Experience with ASC 606, ASC 718, ASC 842, IPO readiness, SEC filings, and BlackLine or similar close-management software
