The role oversees close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and internal controls to ensure accurate reporting and compliant financial statements.

You will partner with finance and other departments, coach the accounting team, support audits, and help implement new accounting standards and process improvements as the business

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
  • 5–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closes and meet deadlines.
  • Review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals and supporting schedules.
  • Oversee general ledger activity for accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare and review financial statements and management reports.
  • Support external audits and maintain accounting documentation.
  • Implement and apply new accounting standards and policies.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, accuracy, and controls.

Job description

Our client is an organization in the Neenah area looking for an Accounting Manager. Our client is looking for an experienced accounting professional who can provide leadership across the accounting function while remaining actively involved in day-to-day financial activities. This individual will oversee key accounting processes, support accurate financial reporting, and help develop efficient and effective accounting practices.

The salary range for this position is $110k–120k.

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close activities and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Review journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and other supporting accounting schedules.
  • Oversee general ledger activity and ensure transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.
  • Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and supporting financial analysis.
  • Research accounting discrepancies and complex transactions and recommend appropriate resolutions.
  • Maintain strong accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Provide day-to-day leadership, coaching, and support to members of the accounting team.
  • Review the work of accounting staff and provide guidance on technical and operational accounting matters.
  • Partner with Finance and other departments to ensure financial information is complete and accurate.
  • Coordinate audit requests and prepare supporting schedules and documentation for external partners.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities as needed.
  • Monitor balance sheet accounts and investigate significant or unusual activity.
  • Assist with the implementation and application of new accounting standards and policies.
  • Evaluate existing accounting workflows and identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, and controls.
  • Support accounting system enhancements and other process improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in special projects and provide accounting leadership as business needs evolve.

The Accounting Manager will possess the following:

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • 5–6+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • CPA preferred.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring accounting professionals preferred.
  • Strong hands‑on accounting background with experience in general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and month‑end close.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.
  • Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to research and resolve accounting issues.
  • Experience supporting external audits and maintaining appropriate accounting documentation.
  • Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
  • Ability to balance accounting leadership responsibilities with hands‑on involvement when needed.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and recurring deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to partner effectively across departments.
  • Proactive and accountable with a focus on continuous improvement and developing strong accounting processes.
