Sugarfina is seeking a highly organized Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations across a multi-brand, multi-subsidiary organization and support GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The role focuses on the monthly close, GL, reconciliations, inventory accounting, intercompany activity, and AP/AR oversight.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and hands-on NetSuite OneWorld experience.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business field is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Prior experience supervising or leading accounting personnel preferred.
  • Advanced Excel skills and hands-on NetSuite experience required; NetSuite OneWorld and multi-subsidiary accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP.
  • Demonstrated experience with month-end close and financial statement preparation.

Responsibilities

  • Own the day-to-day execution of the monthly close process across all brands and subsidiaries, including consolidation and inter-company activity.
  • Prepare and post recurring and non-recurring journal entries.
  • Prepare and review accruals, prepaids, amortization, depreciation, and other month-end entries.
  • Complete and maintain monthly balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve reconciling items in a timely manner.
  • Analyze general ledger activity for unusual or unexpected transactions.
  • Maintain the close calendar and ensure assigned responsibilities are completed within established deadlines in a 4-4-5 fiscal reporting environment.
  • Support year-end close, external audit requirements, and SEC/public-company reporting readiness.
  • Oversee the day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
  • Support physical inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation of count results across inventory-holding operations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory accounting, including COGS, inventory adjustments, freight/landed cost, reserves, and related reconciliations.
  • Assist the Assistant Controller with consolidated management reporting, financial analysis, and reporting across subsidiaries, brands, channels, and departments.
  • Supervise, train, and provide direction to accounting staff as assigned.
  • Serve as a resource for accounting related questions and issues.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen accounting processes, internal controls, documentation, and close efficiency as the company scales.
  • Reduce manual day-to-day and month-end processes through better use of NetSuite, reporting tools, and workflow automation.
  • Identify accounting issues and communicate them to the Assistant Controller promptly.

What We're Looking For:

Sugarfina is seeking a highly organized, analytical, and dependable Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting operations across a growing multi-brand, multi-subsidiary organization and support the Assistant Controller in maintaining accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant financial reporting. The Accounting Manager will have significant ownership of the monthly close, general ledger, account reconciliations, inventory accounting, intercompany activity, accounts payable and receivable oversight, and accounting-related operational processes. The ideal candidate takes ownership, catches errors before they become problems, understands the business activity behind the numbers, and consistently meets deadlines.
