Job summary

OPTO International is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations for our manufacturing business in Illinois. You will lead general ledger, month-end close, AP/AR, and cost accounting while collaborating with operations and leadership to drive accuracy and efficiency.

The role supervises two staff members and focuses on process improvements, internal controls, and timely financial reporting to support strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Prior leadership/supervisory experience.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger, AP/AR, reconciliations, month-end close, inventory/cost accounting, and sales tax.
  • Proficiency in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite.
  • Solid understanding of GAAP and financial reporting principles.
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with proactive problem solving.
  • Experience partnering with operations, supply chain, inventory, and production teams.

What we are looking for:

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee daily accounting operations and support the financial health of our manufacturing business. This role will lead core accounting functions including general ledger management, month-end close, AP/AR oversight, account reconciliations, and financial reporting while partnering closely with operations and leadership teams. The Ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing accounting experience, a hands-on leadership style, and the ability to improve processes in a fast-paced environment. This position will supervise two direct reports and play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, operational visibility, and continuous process improvement across the function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage month-end and year-end close process
  • Oversee GL accuracy and reconciliations

  • Cost accounting and inventory valuation
  • ERP implementation and optimization
  • Multi-entity accounting experience
  • CPA or CMA (preferred, not required)
