Accounting Manager

A long‑standing, family‑owned company in the west suburbs of Chicago is seeking a hands‑on Accounting Manager to lead day‑to‑day accounting operations across a multi‑entity environment. This organization has been in business for over a century, maintains a collaborative “one team” culture, and operates with the agility and trust of a small company.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the month‑end close process and produce accurate financial statements for multiple locations.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, inventory adjustments, and intercompany transactions.
• Support and oversee A/P and A/R activity, working closely with long‑tenured team members.
• Process payroll (Paylocity) and maintain commission plans within the ERP system (Acumatica).
• Complete bank reconciliations within required timelines.
• Partner with external CPA firm on tax‑related filings and compliance.
• Maintain internal controls and ensure accurate, timely reporting.
• Collaborate with operations/production teams to ensure proper costing and job close‑out.
• Identify and drive process improvements to strengthen efficiency and accuracy.
• Participate in ERP enhancements and systems optimization.

Who You Are

• 5–8+ years of hands‑on accounting experience, ideally within a $10M–$100M business.
• Strong background in month‑end close, reconciliations, and multi‑entity accounting.
• Experience guiding or supervising accounting staff (A/P, A/R).
• ERP experience required; Acumatica is a plus.
• Comfortable working in a family‑owned, small‑company environment where everyone pitches in.
• Strong Excel and general systems aptitude.
• Detail‑oriented, reliable, and energized by day‑to‑day accounting work.
