Job summary

Zeus Lending, a Houston-based private lending company, is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead all accounting operations and drive financial strategy. You will partner with executives to provide insights for growth, profitability, and decision-making in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

The ideal candidate has extensive leadership experience in mortgage or financial services accounting and excels at internal controls, budgeting, and strategic planning, with strong Excel and industry

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
• Mortgage, private lending, banking, or financial services industry experience strongly preferred.
• Thorough understanding of mortgage loan accounting, warehouse lending, loan sales, servicing, and loan lifecycle accounting.
• Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and executive financial reporting.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• Experience with accounting and mortgage lending software such as TMO, Encompass, or similar platforms preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership abilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Manage the company's cash flow, liquidity, and banking relationships.
• Oversee accounting for mortgage loan transactions, including loan funding, payoffs, servicing transfers, loan sales, and warehouse lending activity.
• Maintain and reconcile warehouse lines of credit, clearing accounts, and intercompany transactions.
• Develop and monitor annual budgets, financial forecasts, and long-range financial plans.
• Provide financial reporting, analysis, and KPIs to executive leadership.
• Develop, implement, and maintain strong internal controls and accounting policies.
• Coordinate annual financial statement audits, tax preparation, and relationships with external auditors and advisors.
• Monitor company financial performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
• Support executive leadership with strategic financial planning, capital management, and business growth initiatives.
• Partner with Operations, Servicing, Sales, Processing, and Asset Management teams to improve financial reporting and operational performance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
