Job summary

McCrory Construction is seeking an Accounting Manager in Columbia, SC to oversee financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and project accounting. This in-office role reports to the CFO and will eventually lead the accounting department.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in full-cycle accounting in construction, strong GAAP knowledge, Viewpoint Spectrum experience, advanced Excel skills, and excellent communication with project managers and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in a full cycle accounting role, preferably in construction.
• Solid knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles.
• Proficiency with Viewpoint Spectrum or similar ERP software.
• Advanced Excel skills and data analysis capabilities.
• Strong communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Previous management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

McCrory Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accounting Manager to join our team. The Accounting Manager will play a crucial role in managing financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounting functions for our projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with project managers and other team members. This role will eventually have direct reports and will manage the accounting department.

This is a full-time in office, salaried position based in Columbia, South Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable processes
• Monitor and report on A/R aging
• Reconcile key accounts and resolve discrepancies
• Process weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations
• Post weekly payroll entries accurately to the general ledger and make appropriate job cost allocations
• Maintain payroll records, including timesheets and deductions, and reconcile payroll accounts
• Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies
• Assist the CFO with monthly reporting
• Serve as the primary point of contact for third party audits
• Provide accounting and reporting support for subsidiaries
• Coordinate with broader accounting team to balance workload and back up support

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in a full cycle accounting role, preferably in the construction industry
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles
• Proficiency in accounting software (Viewpoint Spectrum a plus)
• Experience with advanced functions in Microsoft Excel
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
