Capstone Search Advisors is conducting a search for an experienced Accounting Manager on behalf of a well-established manufacturing company with nearly 100 years of history and a strong reputation for quality, stability, and operational excellence.
This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys being hands-on while also providing leadership to an accounting and office team. The Accounting Manager will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, payroll, inventory accounting, cash management, and other critical financial functions while partnering closely with the Senior Vice President / General Manager.
The successful candidate will bring strong accounting fundamentals, analytical ability, sound judgment, and the leadership skills necessary to support both the accounting department and the broader organization.
Position Summary
The Accounting Manager provides leadership and management for the accounting department while overseeing daily accounting operations and ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, direction, and management to the accounting team, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Senior Accounting personnel.
- Develop the accounting department through ongoing training, coaching, and performance management.
- Ensure accounting procedures and general company practices comply with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage the preparation of monthly and year-end financial reporting.
- Maintain and update the company's cost system and prepare monthly customer pricing information for the Sales Department.
- Maintain the general ledger and prepare monthly journal entries.
- Manage the finished goods inventory system and coordinate physical inventory activities.
- Prepare and oversee union and non-union payrolls.
- Participate in monthly financial reviews with the Senior Vice President / General Manager.
- Manage broker and customer bill-backs, including billing, collection, and preparation of receivables schedules.
- Oversee banking and cash management activities, including ACH payments and online invoice payments.
- Help ensure the efficient and effective operation of the headquarters office.
- Promote a culture of safety, efficiency, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Perform other accounting and administrative responsibilities as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of five years of related accounting experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organization and time-management skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to exercise sound, independent judgment.
- Manufacturing accounting experience is highly desirable.
