Job summary

Remedy Medical Properties, Inc. is looking for an Accounting Manager in Chicago to lead a small accounting team. You will supervise monthly close processes, review financial statement packages, and manage CAM/RET billings for our healthcare real estate portfolio.

You will coach staff, conduct performance evaluations, and help design improved accounting workflows. A strong background in real estate accounting and Proficiency in Excel and Yardi are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/education required.
  • 4+ years of previous real estate accounting experience required.
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory experience required.
  • Must be detail-oriented, accurate and reliable with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Knowledge and expertise in real estate software, Yardi preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft based software, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of direct reports to ensure timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.
  • Review the monthly financial statement packages and enforce deadlines for accounting and financial statement distribution.
  • Prepare/review annual escalation and settlement billings for CAM, RET and other applicable charges.
  • Provide training, coaching and counseling to new and existing team members; set goals and monitor progress.
  • Provide annual and mid-year performance evaluations and advise on salary increases and promotions.
  • Address personnel issues and participate in Performance Improvement Plans as needed.
  • Participate in hiring for new team members and provide input on hiring decisions.
  • Approve time-off requests and coordinate team schedules.
  • Develop and implement new procedures to improve workflows; manage workloads.
  • Advise staff regarding non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Collaborate with senior accounting leadership to support department goals.
  • Interface with building management and owner representatives on financial issues.
  • Complete special projects as needed.

  • Supervise a team of direct reports to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of all monthly financial information.

  • Provide annual and mid-year performance evaluations for team members and input related to salary increases, bonuses, promotions, etc.
  • Address and document personnel issues related to staff conflicts, absenteeism, performance issues, etc. Escalate performance issues through the appropriate channels as necessary and participate in the design and delivery of Performance Improvement Plans if needed.
  • Participate in hiring process for new team members; review pre-screened resumes, interview potential employees and provide input on hiring decisions for team.
  • Approve time-off requests and coordinate schedules of team members.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new procedures and processes to enhance the workflow of the department. Responsible for understanding, monitoring and altering workloads of team members.
  • Advise staff regarding the handling of non-routine reporting transactions.
  • Collaborate with EVPs of Accounting, Assistant Controller, Senior Accounting Managers, and other Accounting Managers to support overall department goals and objectives.
  • Interface professionally with building management and owner representatives on financial and operational issues
  • Complete special projects as needed

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent experience/education required
  • 4+ years of previous real estate accounting experience required
  • 2+ years of previous supervisory experience required
