Our client, an investment management firm in Chicago, is seeking to hire an Accounting Manager. This role leads the accounting and financial reporting function across multiple legal entities within a complex organizational structure. The position oversees a small team, ensures the accuracy of financial data, and delivers consolidated reporting, analysis, and presentations for leadership. Key Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor a team of senior and staff accountants.
- Set priorities, distribute workload, and foster an engaged, supportive team environment.
- Serve as the primary representative of the team’s work to senior leadership.
Core Accounting & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, GAAP‑compliant financial records across several entities.
- Prepare, review, and post journal entries across multiple ledgers.
- Develop schedules for earnings, expenses, accruals, and related activity.
- Produce monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidated financial statements for various entity groupings, including investment‑related structures.
- Create board‑level reporting packages and respond to ad‑hoc reporting needs.
Controls, Compliance & Analysis
- Strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities for process and control enhancements.
- Perform variance analysis and ensure timely reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Monitor procedures for compliance and drive continuous improvement.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Participate in budgeting and forecasting, including review of expense trends and allocations.
- Support investment‑level analyses such as returns, asset allocation, and portfolio performance.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors and assist with special projects.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial data presentation.
- Manage cost allocations, fee calculations, and co‑investment program activity.
- Respond to information requests from leadership, auditors, lenders, and other stakeholders.
Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.
- CPA
Experience
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive accounting experience in public accounting and/or industry.
- Experience with investment‑related or financial‑services environments preferred.
- Broad exposure to multi‑entity accounting and financial reporting.
