StevenDouglas has been retained on an outstanding Accounting Manager opportunity in Austin, Texas. This role works 4 days in office and 1 day remotely.
Reporting to the Director of Accounting, the Accounting Manager will oversee the organization's core accounting operations, support the month-end close process, and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting related to assets, liabilities, and profit and loss, while managing and developing a team of staff and senior accountants.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Oversees and reviews monthly account reconciliations and manages the month-end close process, ensuring deadlines and accuracy standards are met across the team.
- Reviews and analyzes monthly balance sheets and income statements, identifying trends, variances, and risk areas, and presents findings and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Leads the design and implementation of new accounting processes, internal controls, and financial reporting structures to support the company's growth and acquisition activity.
- Oversees the accounts payable function, ensuring proper invoice review, approval workflows, and accurate account coding.
- Manages the annual audit process end-to-end, serving as the primary point of contact for external auditors and ensuring timely preparation of required documentation.
- Oversees preparation and filing of required federal, state, and local tax forms, coordinating with external tax advisors as needed.
- Owns the relationship with accounting software vendors, leading system enhancements, integrations, and upgrades to the ERP platform.
- Mentors, trains, and manages performance of accounting staff, including senior accountants and staff accountants.
- Partners cross-functionally with FP&A, operations, and executive leadership on ad hoc financial analysis and special projects.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in general financial accounting, the month-end close process, and consolidated financial reporting.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP and demonstrated ability to apply and enforce compliance across a team.
- Advanced knowledge of NetSuite or a similar ERP system, including system administration and process optimization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, complex formulas, financial modeling).
- Proven ability to manage, coach, and develop accounting staff.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting financial information to leadership.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred.
- Five to seven years of progressive accounting experience required.
