StevenDouglas has been engaged on an exceptional Accountant career opportunity in Austin, Texas, within a leading PE firm’s family office. We are seeking an experienced accountant who will collaborate across the Finance team to support a wide range of accounting and tax functions. Primary responsibilities include preparing and posting accounting entries, managing the monthly close process, and overseeing tax reporting activities. The role will also involve cross‑functional collaboration on both ad hoc projects and long‑term strategic initiatives. This role is in‑office, 5 days a week.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed analyses and account reconciliations for financial accounts across multiple legal entities
- Record and post journal entries to support daily accounting operations
- Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and assist with monthly and quarterly close processes
- Support the preparation and review of financial statements and compile supporting documentation for management, tax, compliance, and statutory reporting purposes
- Prepare supporting documentation for external tax preparers
- Assist with partnership and trust accounting for family office entities
- Prepare expense analyses and variance reports
- Provide support with ad hoc operational and administrative tasks as needed
- Contribute to process improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to enhance accuracy, strengthen reporting, improve workflows, and increase operational efficiency
- Promote a positive, collaborative work environment through clear communication and transparency
Professional Experience / Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on accounting experience, ideally within a family office, private investment firm, or tax/accounting organization
- Strong expertise in general ledger management, journal entries, reconciliations, and month‑end close activities
- Experience with Schedule K‑1s and partnership allocations
- Familiarity with partnership and trust tax accounting (preferred)
- Experience working across multiple legal entities with complex ownership structures
- Ability to work independently and effectively manage multiple priorities
- Demonstrated personal and professional integrity
- Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
- Collaborative team player with confidence, humility, and a “no task too small” mindset
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive information
- Strong computer proficiency, including advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Knowledge of QuickBooks and/or Microsoft Dynamics (preferred)
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration required (Accounting major strongly preferred)
