Job summary

Hudbay Minerals U.S. Business Unit in Tucson, AZ seeks an Accounting Lead to oversee monthly close, ensure US GAAP and IFRS compliance, and lead a team of accounting professionals under the Manager of Accounting and Controls.

The role requires 5+ years of accounting experience, 2+ years supervisory, SAP experience, and strong IFRS/SOX knowledge; cross-functional collaboration with operations and external auditors is essential.

Qualifications

• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisor role.
• Experience with a major ERP system (preferably SAP).
• Experience with joint venture accounting, multiple company codes, and intercompany transactions.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes with timely and accurate reporting.
• Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and consolidations.
• Oversee financial statements under US GAAP and IFRS, including JV accounting and intercompany settlements.
• Design, implement, and maintain internal controls over financial reporting.
• Act as liaison for external and internal audits and manage PBC requests.
• Lead and develop the accounting team and collaborate cross-functionally with other departments.
• Manage fixed asset accounting, AP support, and cross-functional operational accounting.
