Job summary

Hudbay is seeking an Accounting Lead to guide the regional accounting team and ensure accuracy of financial records from daily transactions to close. The role reports to the Manager of Accounting and Controls and collaborates with auditors to maintain strong internal controls.

The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, manage fixed assets, assist AP, and partner with cross-functional teams to support operations in the mining sector.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• A professional accounting designation (CPA, CMA) or an MBA is preferred.
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisor role.
• Experience with a major ERP system (preferably SAP).
• Experience with joint venture accounting, multiple company codes, and intercompany transactions is essential.
• Experience in the mining, metals, or related heavy industrial industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes to ensure timely and accurate reporting.
• Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other supporting documentation for multiple company codes.
• Oversee the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
• Oversee the accounting for joint venture partnerships and consolidation.
• Manage intercompany transactions and consolidations; review consolidations file and schedules.
