Job summary

Hudbay is seeking an Accounting Lead to oversee the integrity of financial records and the close process across multiple company codes. You will work with auditors and internal teams to strengthen internal controls and ensure compliant reporting.

Reporting to the Manager of Accounting and Controls, you will lead a team of accounting professionals, manage fixed assets, and support cross-functional operations with accounting expertise in a mining-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisor role.
• Experience with a major ERP system (preferably SAP).
• Experience with joint venture accounting, multiple company codes, and intercompany transactions is essential.
• Experience in the mining, metals, or related heavy industrial industry is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Direct and support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely, accurate reporting.
• Review and approve journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and other supporting documentation for multiple company codes.
• Oversee financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP and IFRS.
• Manage intercompany transactions and JV consolidation or accounting.
• Design, implement and maintain internal controls over financial reporting to mitigate risk.
