Magyar Bank, a leader in community banking, is seeking an Accounting Clerk to join the Finance team in Central New Jersey. You will reconcile balances to the general ledger, research discrepancies, and process accounts payable entries.

Qualifications include a High School diploma (or equivalent) with college accounting courses, 2–4 years of related experience, and strong analytical and communication skills. Competitive salary and benefits are offered.

Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank balances to the general ledger and research discrepancies.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances.
• Provide general accounting support to other departments as needed.
• Process accounts payable entries and issue checks.
• Back up Finance Staff as needed.
• Assist with account research and audits as required.
• Maintain Sales Tax Expenditure worksheet for UEZ reimbursements.
• Support special projects as needed and perform other duties.

Magyar Bank, a leader in the community banking sector, is searching for qualified candidates to join our Finance team in the Central New Jersey area as Accounting Clerk.

The Accounting Clerk will reconcile Bank balances to the general ledger. Research discrepancies. Process Accounts payable entries and checks. This role will also assist with account research and audits.

Essential Functions:

• Reconciles financial institution balances to the general ledger
• Reconciles general ledger accounts and researches discrepancies
• Provides general accounting support to other departments as necessary
• Processes Accounts Payable entries and checks
• Back up Finance Staff as needed
• Assists with account research and audits as necessary
• Maintains Sales Tax Expenditure worksheet for reimbursement under UEZ program
• Special Projects as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent required. College level accounting/finance courses required.
• 2-4 years related accounting experience desired
• Good knowledge of accounting principles, as well as good analytical, verbal, mathematical and written communication skills
• Computer literate, including knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Word and internet search
• Must be detail-oriented with excellent follow-up skills and the ability to multi-task
• Must maintain a high degree of confidentiality
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to effectively interact with all levels of management
• Ability to work independently

Salary Range: $43,900 - $58,200 per year
