Job summary

The Crosby Ottenhoff Group is seeking an Accounting Associate in a Birmingham-area role offering hybrid/remote work options and structured training. You will support transaction processing, data entry, and financial recordkeeping, collaborating with Staff and Senior Accountants to maintain accurate client financials.

This entry-level position focuses on accounts payable/receivable, GL maintenance, and compliance support, with opportunities to grow into more advanced roles as you gain experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, but not required.
  • 0-2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or data entry experience preferred.
  • Experience with accounts payable (A/P), accounts receivable (A/R), or bookkeeping is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Process accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Enter financial data into accounting software, maintaining up-to-date and organized records.
  • Assist in bank and credit card reconciliations, verifying transaction accuracy.
  • Monitor client invoices and payments, ensuring timely processing and resolution of discrepancies.
  • Support general ledger maintenance, ensuring correct coding and transaction classification.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial reports, compiling data for senior team members.
  • Work with the compliance team to maintain audit-ready records for FEC and regulatory filings.
  • Follow internal control processes to ensure financial data integrity and security.
  • Utilize QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel, and internal accounting software to manage client financials.
  • Assist in process documentation and improvements, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Work with the accounting team to automate and optimize transaction workflows.
  • Participate in a structured training program, gaining expertise in financial operations and compliance, which will ensure comprehensive readiness for specialized work in our field.
  • Work closely with Staff and Senior Accountants for mentorship and learning opportunities.
  • Develop foundational accounting skills to prepare for growth into more advanced roles.
  • Maintain high accuracy and attention to detail in all financial tasks.
  • Participate in internal training, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Process accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R) transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Enter financial data into accounting software, maintaining up-to-date and organized records.
