CO01 Southern Illinois Hospital Services Inc. is seeking an Assistant Director of Accounting to support the Director in developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems across SIH entities.

The role includes payroll, accounts payable, and purchasing cards, with a focus on accurate financial reporting and tax compliance. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, 5 years of accounting experience, 3 years of supervisory experience, and ideally healthcare accounting

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required.
• 5 years of accounting experience is required.
• 3 years supervisory experience is required.
• Healthcare accounting experience is preferred.
• CPA is preferred.

Responsabilidades

• Assist the Director with developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, including payroll, accounts payable and purchasing cards.
• Assist the Director in managing the accounting department for all SIH entities.
• Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to ensure accuracy of financial activity across SIH.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports for management.
• Ensure tax filings with IRS, state government, and other agencies are correct and timely.
• Identify variances in income statement accounts and drive corrective action.
• Support budgeting process with the Budget Coordinator and management staff.
• Develop accounting applications to meet business needs (Workday, Symplr, Kodiak, OSV).
• Collaborate with management, auditors, and others to explain variances and accounting matters.
• Provide leadership in developing and maintaining operational procedures of the department.
• Maintain clear electronic procedures for all responsibilities.
• Review balance sheet reconciliations and verify documentation and approvals.
• Review journal entries and ensure proper documentation and approvals.
• Serve as liaison for Accounting Managers and escalate to Director when needed.
• Provide AR and contractual accounts analysis and validate relationships.
• Support system-wide initiatives impacting accounting functions and assist with implementation.
• Develop new processes and guidelines to standardize best practices.
• Foster positive relationships across functional boundaries to improve business performance.
