Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking an Assistant Director of Accounting to support the Director with developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, including payroll and accounts payable, across SIH entities.

This senior role requires a Bachelor’s in accounting, CPA preferred, 5 years accounting experience with 3 years of supervisory experience, and healthcare accounting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Director with developing, implementing, and monitoring accounting systems, including payroll and accounts payable.
• Assist the Director in managing the accounting department for all SIH entities.
• Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to ensure accuracy of financial activity.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial statements and reports.
• Ensure tax filings with IRS and state agencies are correct and timely.
• Identify variances and provide explanations or corrections.
• Support budgeting and monitoring the annual budget.
• Develop accounting applications to meet business needs (e.g., Workday, Symplr, Kodiak, OSV).
• Collaborate with management, auditors, and others to answer questions and explain variances.
• Provide departmental leadership and maintain and standardize procedures.
