New Way Trucks in Scranton, IA is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team. You will handle cash receipts, invoicing, and accounts payable, working closely with the accounting team to maintain accurate records and timely transactions.

The ideal candidate has 1–3 years of accounting experience, proficiency in Excel and ERP software, and strong organizational skills. This full-time role is based at our Scranton, IA facility with Midwest values and competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• 1–3 years of accounting experience, preferably cash receipts, invoicing, and accounts payable.
• Experience in manufacturing is a plus.
• Knowledge of QuickBooks, SAP, or other ERP systems is a plus.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Record and apply daily cash receipts to the correct accounts.
• Verify and reconcile discrepancies in cash transactions.
• Prepare and deposit payments with accurate documentation.
• Maintain cash receipts logs and support reconciliation processes.
• Generate and distribute customer invoices in a timely manner.
• Ensure invoices are complete and meet company standards.
• Follow up on outstanding invoices and resolve payment issues.
• Process vendor invoices with accuracy and proper authorization.
• Prepare payment runs and ensure timely processing.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
• Maintain file documentation for accounts payable.
• Assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
• Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
