Position Summary
Our client, a growing manufacturing company, is seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support its accounting and finance team on a temporary basis. This role will assist with daily accounting operations, month-end close activities, account reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting support, and audit preparation. The ideal candidate has a strong accounting foundation, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Prepare account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations and intercompany account reconciliations.
- Record journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments.
- Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and asset tracking documentation.
- Support month-end cutoff procedures and ensure transactions are accurately recorded in the appropriate accounting periods.
- Assist with Profit & Loss (P&L) analysis and variance reporting.
Financial Reporting & Analysis
- Compile financial information and prepare recurring accounting and financial reports.
- Analyze accounting data to identify discrepancies, trends, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Assist with budget tracking and financial performance reporting.
- Generate reports and perform data analysis using Microsoft Excel and the company's ERP system.
- Support management by providing accurate financial information for operational decision-making.
General Accounting Support
- Assist with audit preparation by organizing financial documentation and responding to audit requests.
- Maintain accurate accounting records while ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
- Work closely with finance and operations teams to resolve accounting issues and improve financial processes.
- Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of accounting experience in an accounting or finance environment.
- Manufacturing industry experience is preferred.
- Strong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reporting.
- Experience with account reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
- Experience working with ERP/accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a collaborative team environment.
