Job summary

ENGIE North America Inc. is seeking an Accounting Advisor to oversee general ledger accounting and financial reporting for Supply entities in their operational phase.

You will lead monthly and annual close processes, ensure IFRS-compliant reporting, and support internal controls in a fast-paced retail energy environment. You will collaborate with FP&A, Business Control, Supply, Settlement and Operations, analyze performance, resolve variances, and back up the Accounting Manager as needed.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • A minimum of seven (7) years' of relevant accounting experience in Financial Reporting, Account Reconciliations or related field.
  • This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy.
  • Experience within the Retail Energy industry.
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies.
  • You are CPA certified or in progress towards certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general ledger accounting and reporting activities, including monthly operating reports, cash flow monitoring, and IFRS-compliant financial reporting (Cartesis).
  • Support month-end and year-end close processes; prepare journal entries (accruals, intercompany, prior period) and ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Complete balance sheet reconciliations, investigate discrepancies, and ensure timely reporting to Business Control, Technical Accounting, and FP&A.
  • Analyze financial results and gross margin; provide variance explanations and serve as a key contact for financial performance insights.
  • Record and reconcile RECs, ISO settlements, intercompany activity, cash, and energy transactions; prepare related accruals and validate supplier/utility invoices.
  • Ensure accurate revenue, expense, and margin recognition while resolving discrepancies between operational and financial systems and managing timely payments.
  • Support audits, maintain internal controls and IFRS compliance, drive process improvements, collaborate cross-functionally, and assist with budgeting, forecasting, and team backup responsibilities.

Job description

As our Accounting Advisor, you will play a key role in overseeing general ledger accounting and financial reporting for Supply entities in their operational phase. You will lead critical aspects of the monthly and annual close processes, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant financial reporting in a fast-paced retail energy environment.

This role partners closely with cross-functional teams-including FP&A, Business Control, Supply, Settlement, and Operations-to analyze financial performance, resolve variances, and strengthen internal controls. You will also contribute to process improvements, support audit and reporting requirements, and serve as a backup to the Accounting Manager in their absence.

You will:

  • Perform general ledger accounting and reporting activities, including monthly operating reports, cash flow monitoring, and IFRS-compliant financial reporting (Cartesis)

What You'll Bring

Compensation

Salary Range: $115,000 - $132,000 USD annually

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.

ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws. Actual salary offered may vary depending on geography, experience, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
