Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support the accurate and timely close of the general ledger. You will prepare journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, leases, accruals and variance reviews, and research material revenue/expense elements for internal and external reporting.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and at least five years of accounting/financial reporting experience in a large corporate setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related quantitative field required; related experience may offset.
• Five years of accounting/financial reporting experience in public accounting or large corporate environment.
• Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.
• Outstanding knowledge of business software and spreadsheets, plus mainframe or web-based apps.
• CPA, data analytics or GL accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support highly complex accounting activities for accurate, timely general ledger close.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, leases, accruals and variance reviews.
• Research and analyze large elements of revenue and expense and related reporting.
• Ensure GL balances are correct and SOX controls tested and documented.
• Lead internal and cross-functional teams on major initiatives and policy changes.
• Coach, review and delegate work to junior staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger,
• Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews.
• Research and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal/external reporting.
• Ensure general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and that Internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Lead internal and cross functional teams on major initiatives/projects including: process improvement, regulatory compliance/changes and policy recommending innovative solutions.
• Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years experience in accounting and/or financial reporting in a public accounting firm or in a large for-profit corporate environment.

Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.

Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including presentation skills.

This is a hybrid position located in Collierville, TN or Plano, TX. Candidates must live within 50 miles of campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week. Position may be eligible for relocation.
