Job summary

FedEx is hiring a Senior Accountant for a hybrid role located in Collierville, TN or Plano, TX. You will perform highly complex accounting activities to support the general ledger close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and asset processing.

The ideal candidate has five years of accounting/financial reporting experience, strong analytical and communication skills, and knowledge of GAAP with internal control testing. CPA preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support highly complex accounting activities for timely GL close.
• Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, fixed assets, leases and accruals.
• Research large elements of revenue/expense for internal/external reporting.
• Ensure GL balances are GAAP-compliant and internal controls tested.
• Lead cross-functional teams on major initiatives and process improvements.
• Coach and delegate to lower level staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger. Problems faced are difficult and often complex.

Essential Functions

• Responsible for highly complex accounting activities supporting the accurate and timely close of the general ledger,
• Prepare and post journal entries, account reconciliations, fixed asset processing, lease/contract review, accrual entries, and/or budget variance reviews.
• Research and analysis of assigned large elements of revenue and expense and the related internal/external reporting.
• Ensure general ledger account balances are materially correct in compliance with internal controls and GAAP and that Internal control risks are tested and documented in accordance with Sarbanes-Oxley.
• Lead internal and cross functional teams on major initiatives/projects including: process improvement, regulatory compliance/changes and policy recommending innovative solutions.
• Coaching, reviewing and delegating work to lower level professionals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in accounting, finance or other related quantitative discipline is required. Related experience may offset degree requirements and related education/degree may offset experience requirements.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years experience in accounting and/or financial reporting in a public accounting firm or in a large for-profit corporate environment.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Excellent analytical and financial analysis skills required.

Outstanding knowledge of business software, spreadsheet applications and/or mainframe or web-based applications.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills including presentation skills.

This is a hybrid position located in Collierville, TN or Plano, TX. Candidates must live within 50 miles of campus location. Employees will be required to work at the FedEx campus location several times per week. Position may be eligible for relocation.
