Job summary

FedEx in Memphis is seeking a seasoned IT lead to coordinate system requirements, design specs, and code/unit tests aligned with business needs. You will drive testing at system and integration levels and mentor junior engineers.

You will resolve complex production issues and help shape delivery across significant projects, while performing additional duties as required. Strong communication and OO development experience are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field.
• Five or more years of qualifying work experience in IT or engineering environment.
• Knowledge of software engineering principles.
• Experience with IBM operating systems or microprocessors.
• LMS experience and familiarity with OO development, client/server tech, or CASE tools.

Essential Functions

• Provide leadership and initiative to the development of deliverables for additional levels of testing and test execution, including system level and integration tests.
• Lead and/or assist in resolution of complex production problems.
• Mentor development of those in less senior positions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

Bachelor's Degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, and/or equivalent formal.

Minimum Experience

Five (5) years qualifying work experience in information technology or engineering environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Skill in one or more programming languages used by FedEx. Good communication skills.

Requires IBM operating systems or microprocessor experience.

LMS experience. Requires experience in client/server technology, object oriented (OO) development, or case tools.

Knowledge of software engineering principles.

This compensation range is provided as a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary range for this role across all potential locations. If this opportunity includes multiple job levels, the range is a reasonable estimate of the current starting salary for the lowest level to the current starting salary of the highest level. Actual starting pay would be determined by experience relative to the job, market level, pay at the location for this job and other job-related factors permitted by law.
