Job summary

Ellwood Quality Steels in New Castle, PA seeks an Accountant to oversee and coordinate all accounting functions, reporting to the Controller. The role emphasizes financial accounting, month-end close, inventory control, and inter-company reconciliations within a manufacturing environment.

You will work closely with leadership to ensure accurate financial records, support annual reporting, and maintain strong internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or commensurate experience.
• Minimum of two years’ accounting experience in manufacturing preferred.
• Knowledge of accounting practices; ability to grow in accounting field.
• Excellent Excel skills and computer literacy.
• Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.
• Confidentiality maintained; proactive and able to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Perform financial accounting: general ledger, journal entries, month-end close.
• Coordinate with Controller to learn the ledger and costing program.
• Prepare monthly reports and charts (sales, use tax, capital projects, production).
• Manage monthly inventory control and annual reconciliations.
• Handle inter-company transactions and reconciliations.
• Assist with yearly reporting (R&D tax credit, 1099s).
• Provide back-up for other accounting functions.
• Maintain controls to ensure integrity of the computer system.
• Ensure financial records reflect the company position.
• Adhere to company policies including safety rules.

What You’ll Do

• Financial Accounting (general ledger, journal entry preparation, month-end closing, A/R, etc.)
• Work closely with the Controller to acquire a full understanding of the Company’s ledger and costing program
• Prepare monthly reports / charts (sales & use tax, capital projects, production, etc.)
• Monthly inventory control and annual inventory reconciliations
• Inter-company transaction / reconciliations
• Assist Controller with yearly reporting (R&D tax credit, 1099s, etc.)
• Complete special projects as assigned
• Provide back up support for other accounting functions
• Maintain controls to ensure integrity of the computer system
• Ensure all financial records accurately reflect the financial position of the company
• Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.
• Must have ability and desire to work with others.
• Meets attendance requirements.
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary to support business needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in accounting required or a commensurate level of related experience and education.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience Accounting in a manufacturing environment is preferred;

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of accounting practices and willingness to grow in the accounting field.
• Excellent Excel skills and advanced personal computer literacy and work processing software;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Must be proactive and have the ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Must have attention to detail and be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed
• Must maintain confidentiality.

DRIVING: Required to have an active and valid driver’s license, or the ability to travel and commute as required, and comply with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.
