Job summary

Ellwood Quality Steels seeks an Accountant to oversee and coordinate all accounting functions, reporting to the Controller. The role supports manufacturing operations, cost accounting, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
• Minimum two years' accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of accounting practices and willingness to grow in the field.
• Excellent Excel skills and PC literacy.
• Strong written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Perform general ledger, journal entries, month-end close, A/R, etc.
• Work with Controller to understand ledgers and costing.
• Prepare monthly reports and charts (sales, use tax, projects).
• Inventory control and annual reconciliations; inter-company reconciliations.
• Maintain vendor documentation (W-9, W-8BEN).
• Assist Controller with yearly reporting (R&D tax credit, 1099s).
• Complete special projects and provide backup for accounting functions.
• Ensure financial records reflect the company's position; follow safety rules.

What You'll Do

• Financial Accounting (general ledger, journal entry preparation, month-end closing, A/R, etc.)
• Work closely with the Controller to acquire a full understanding of the Company's ledger and costing program
• Prepare monthly reports / charts (sales & use tax, capital projects, production, etc.)
• Monthly inventory control and annual inventory reconciliations
• Inter-company transaction / reconciliations
• Maintain required vendor documentation (W-9, W-8BEN)
• Assist Controller with yearly reporting (R&D tax credit, 1099s, etc.)
• Complete special projects as assigned
• Provide back up support for other accounting functions
• Maintain controls to ensure integrity of the computer system
• Ensure all financial records accurately reflect the financial position of the company
• Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.
• Must have ability and desire to work with others.
• Meets attendance requirements.
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary to support business needs.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

EDUCATION: Bachelor's degree in accounting required or a commensurate level of related experience and education.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years' experience Accounting in a manufacturing environment is preferred;

QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of accounting practices and willingness to grow in the accounting field.
• Excellent Excel skills and advanced personal computer literacy and work processing software;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills;
• Must be proactive and have the ability to multi-task and work independently.
• Must have attention to detail and be results oriented with a strong desire to succeed
• Must maintain confidentiality.

DRIVING

Required to have an active and valid driver's license, or the ability to travel and commute as required, and comply with the Motor Vehicle Safety Program.

Theoretical Steelmaking Course

Education

Bachelors of Accounting (required)

Experience

2 years: Accounting in a manufacturing environment is preferred (preferred)
