Job summary

Ellwood Quality Steels seeks a skilled Electrician to join our heavy industrial team in New Castle, PA. The role involves reading drawings, servicing motors and transformers, and supporting maintenance of high voltage systems on a 12-hour rotating shift.

Overtime may be required for training and outages. Qualifications include a HS Diploma (Associates preferred) and 2+ years in a heavy industrial setting with high voltage training.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings and schematics.
• Service and troubleshoot motors, starters, and high voltage equipment.
• Maintain and service transformers, substations, and battery houses.
• Assist Millwrights as needed and ensure safe rigging and mobile equipment operation.
• Develop CMMS job plans and preventive maintenance procedures.

What you'll do:

• Must be able to read and understand drawings and schematics.
• Must have working knowledge of various types of motors and starters from 250 volt D.C. to 4160 A.C.
• Must have DC crane knowledge and servicing and troubleshooting experience.
• Must have a working understanding of transformers and substations – must be able to service transformers, as needed (filter oil, inspect tap chargers, inspect all high voltage breakers); service breakers in substation; and service battery house.
• Assists Millwrights as needed.
• Must have knowledge of proper and safe rigging methods as well as the safe and correct operation of mobile equipment.
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems is preferred.
• Will assist in developing CMMS system job plans and Preventive Maintenance Plans.
• Abides by all policies and procedures established by the Company including plant safety regulations and work rules.
• Must have ability and desire to work with others.
• Meets attendance requirements.
• Performs other duties as deemed necessary.

What you'll need:

EDUCATION: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent G.E.D. Secondary education is preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Completion of EQS in-house Apprentice Program or a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in a heavy industrial facility preferred. Previous experience in a steelmaking environment preferred. Documented high voltage training preferred.

SCHEDULE: 12 hour, rotating shifts – subject to change depending on operating requirements. Overtime hours may be required for training.

DRIVING: Driving is a function of this position but not a requirement in accordance with the motor vehicle safety program. Driver’s license will be monitored for valid and active status.

OTHER: Applicants must pass written electricians test.
