Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking an Accountant to manage the fundamental aspects of financial recordkeeping, including recording transactions, managing accounts, and ensuring GAAP and regulatory compliance.

The role covers processing AP/AR or payroll, reconciling accounts, researching discrepancies, maintaining confidentiality, and cross-training in other areas to broaden knowledge of accounting processes and systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or equivalent experience preferred.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Basic accounting knowledge.
• Strong organization skills with high level of attention to detail.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure.
• Able to analyze and resolve basic issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
• Computer proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
• Able to remain flexible in a rapidly changing environment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of financial transactions (AP/AR or payroll).
• Conduct regular account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Research and resolve straightforward accounting discrepancies; escalate complex issues.
• Ensure compliance with state and federal laws and GAAP.
• Respond to inquiries and provide instruction on processes as needed.
• Cross-train in other areas to broaden knowledge of accounting processes and systems.
