Job description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Accountant to join our IES Holdings team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting requirements (including SEC compliance), assisting with monthly close processes, and ensuring adherence to SOX internal controls. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain experience in corporate accounting within a dynamic, regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries and account reconciliations for monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with SOX internal control requirements.
  • Participate in internal and external audits, including providing requested documentation and analyses.
  • Analyze financial information to identify trends, variances, and ensure accuracy.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including FP&A, Tax, Treasury, and Legal. Coordinate among subsidiary accounting groups nationwide.
  • Maintain fixed asset records, depreciation schedules, and ensure accurate capital asset reporting.
  • Support accounting for stock-based compensation, leases (ASC 842), and other complex accounting topics.
  • Stay current on changes in accounting standards and assist in implementing them as needed.

Specific Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
  • CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA preferred.
  • 1–4 years of accounting experience; public accounting or publicly traded corporate experience strongly preferred.
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g. D365, Spectrum) and financial reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Workiva or similar platforms a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
