Job summary

Nassal is seeking an Accountant for our Orlando office to support clerical and data entry tasks, manage AP/AR, and provide timely tax compliance and reporting. You will prepare client billing packages, bank deposits, and multi-state tax returns, working with project teams to ensure accurate financial processes.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor’s degree, familiarity with construction/project-based accounting, and experience with accounting software.

Qualifications

  • Experience preparing multi-state sales and use tax returns.
  • Knowledge of state and local sales/use tax regulations and exemption certificates.
  • Exposure to project costing, budgeting, and subcontract terms.
  • Experience in construction or project-based accounting is preferred.
  • Basic accounting principles and ledgers knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Processes all accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provides ad hoc reports and analysis for project teams as needed.
  • Assists with information for internal and external financial reporting.
  • Assembles client billing packages in accordance with contract terms and ensures timely payment.
  • Prepares bank deposits and cash receipt entries.
  • Prepare, review, and file multi-state sales and use tax returns timely and accurately.
  • Monitor tax compliance requirements and ensure adherence to state/local tax regulations.
  • Research tax issues and provide recommendations on taxability and compliance matters.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax accounts and support audits and inquiries.
  • Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and accounts payable for proper tax treatment.
  • Maintain exemption certificates and support tax process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Research sales and use tax issues and provide recommendations on taxability and compliance matters.
  • Reconcile sales and use tax accounts and support audits, inquiries, and assessments from taxing authorities.
  • Collaborate with project teams, procurement, and accounts payable to ensure proper tax treatment of transactions.
  • Maintain exemption certificates and support ongoing tax process improvements and compliance initiatives.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or diploma in a related field is considered an asset.
  • Experience preparing and filing multi-state sales and use tax returns, preferred.
  • Knowledge of state and local sales/use tax regulations, exemption certificate management, and tax audit support, preferred.
  • Experience within the construction industry or project-based accounting environment, preferred.
  • Some student experience or 6 months to 1 year of accounting or administrative experience is preferred.
  • Exposure to project forecasting and budgeting.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles, including maintenance of ledgers and cash flows.
  • Exposure to project costing principles, recoveries, insurance, and contract/subcontract requirements as related to accounting
  • Exposure to subcontract purchase order terms, including insurance and subcontractor default insurance requirements.
  • Basic understanding of lien rights.
  • Ability to act with the required discretion when handling confidential information.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite and experience with accounting software is an asset.
