Job summary

OneMain Financial seeks an Accountant in Regulatory Reporting to extract data from the data warehouse and GL for timely regulatory filings. You will prepare complex financial and regulatory reports to ensure GAAP compliance and adherence to regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will analyze data, document procedures, and collaborate with Licensing and Compliance. The position offers a hybrid schedule in Irving, TX with opportunities for growth within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 1–2 years of progressive accounting or reporting experience.
• Proficient in Excel and able to access and process data.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Familiarity with GAAP and financial statement prep and analysis.

Accountant - Regulatory Reporting

We are currently seeking qualified candidates to fill an Accountant role in our Regulatory Reporting Department. This position will conduct the extraction of data from the data warehouse and general ledger to be used for the timely and accurate preparation and filing of various financial regulatory reports on a monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual basis. This position will also conduct the preparation of complex financial and regulatory data reports to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ("GAAP") and regulatory requirements, as well as Company policies and procedures. The position will participate in interpreting regulatory reporting requirements as well as any analysis and implementation of accounting, process, and regulatory changes. This position will also be required to research and monitor financial data to ensure data integrity.

In the Role

• Conduct the production of organized documentation and detailed procedures timely in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions and in compliance with documented internal controls, standards and Company policies and procedures
• Cross-train in the preparation and analysis of other government reports prepared on a more frequent basis
• Maximize the use of automated technology to achieve the highest level of quality and efficiency in the preparation of regulatory reports
• Conduct the preparation of financial and regulatory reports to ensure quality, accuracy, timeliness, and conformity with accounting principles and regulatory requirements

• Ensure adherence to the Regulatory Reporting departmental standards, policies, and procedures
• Recommend procedural changes/process improvement opportunities to streamline our processes and ensure the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of the reporting process
• Develop a strong knowledge of the Company's systems and tools to utilize them effectively in report preparation
• Respond timely to internal/external inquiries regarding financial data
• Maintain a strong collaborative working relationships with the team and intercompany departments, such as Licensing and Compliance departments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
• At least 1-2 years of progressive experience in accounting or reporting roles
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel, and ability to access and process data
• Exceptional communications skills, both oral and written
• Familiarity with GAAP and financial statement preparation and analysis, and the ability to apply them appropriately within the organization
• Ability to think, and work, independently resolving challenging issues under tight deadlines

Preferred

• Accounting experience in a regulated entity environment
• CPA or CPA candidate a plus
• SQL experience
• Onestream or ERP experience
