Qualifications

• GAAP knowledge required; advanced Excel skills.
• Accounting degree required; 3-5 years accounting experience.
• Experience in trucking industry is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Month end expense recording and accruals.
• Ensure compliance with accounting and financial regulations.
• Account reconciliations.
• Maintaining general ledger.
• Audit preparations.
• Recording and tracking reserves.
• Ensure travel and entertainment policy is followed.
• Allocate monthly costs correctly.
• Customer volume incentives/rebates.
• Claims and cargo liability reporting.
• Work closely with Driver payroll team.
• Preparing and recording bad debt.
• Oversight of equipment rentals.
• General ad hoc reporting.

The accountant will play a crucial role in our finance department by supporting various accounting activities, including financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. As a member of the Administration division, the Accountant will embody the Buchanan values of Determination, Integrity, Safety, and Community in all their work.

What You’ll Do On a Typical Day

• Month end expense recording & accruals
• Ensure compliance with accounting and financial regulations
• Account reconciliations
• Maintaining general ledger
• Audit preparations
• Recording & tracking reserves
• Ensure the travel & entertainment policy is followed
• Ensure all monthly costs are accounted for and allocated appropriately
• Customer volume incentives/rebates
• Claims and cargo liability reporting
• Work closely with Driver payroll team

What We’re Looking For
