Job summary

Buchanan Hauling & Rigging is seeking an Accountant to support our Finance department in accounting activities, financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. You will be part of the Administration division and uphold Buchanan values in all tasks.

Responsibilities include month-end processing, reconciliations, reserves tracking, and compliance with policies. The role requires an accounting degree and 3–5 years of experience; McLeod experience is a plus. Competitive benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of GAAP and solid accounting practices.
• Advanced Excel skills are required to perform financial analyses.
• 3–5 years of accounting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Handle month-end expense recording and accruals.
• Ensure compliance with accounting regulations and company policies.
• Perform account reconciliations and track reserves.
• Record and monitor travel and entertainment expenses.
• Coordinate with driver payroll and oversee equipment rentals.
• Prepare ad hoc financial reporting and analyses.

The accountant will play a crucial role in our finance department by supporting various accounting activities, including financial analysis, reporting, and budgeting. What You'll Do on a Typical Day

• Month end expense recording & accruals
• Ensure compliance with accounting and financial regulations
• Account reconciliations
• Recording & tracking reserves
• Ensure the travel & entertainment policy is followed
• Ensure all monthly costs are accounted for and allocated appropriately
• Claims and cargo liability reporting
• Work closely with Driver payroll team
• Oversite of equipment rentals
• General Ad Hoc reporting

What We're Looking For

• Knowledge of GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills
• 3-5 years of experience
• Accounting Degree required
• Trucking Industry and McLeod software experience preferred
