Job summary

Rosecrance Jackson Recovery Center in Des Plaines, IL seeks an Accountant to manage financial transactions, prepare statements, and support budgeting with a strong commitment to accuracy and integrity.

You will reconcile accounts, ensure GAAP compliance, and collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights for decision-making. This role emphasizes confidentiality and high ethical standards in a behavioral health setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business or related field.
  • Demonstrated general accounting procedures or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use accounting software.
  • Self-starter with ability to work independently.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.

Responsibilities

  • Work hours prescribed by leadership and any additional hours deemed necessary for the responsibilities assigned.
  • Prepare, post and upload journal entries, reconcile accounts, and calculate accrued expenses for month-end closing.
  • Review, approve and ensure journal entries are accurate, appropriate, and comply with GAAP.
  • Process daily or weekly deposits, verify bank receipts, and reconcile cash receipts to cash journal postings. Maintain check registers and complete monthly bank reconciliations, including conducting petty cash audits.
  • Prepare monthly fee-for-service and grant utilization reports, reconcile these reports to revenue accounts, and analyze trends or issues and offering feedback for process improvements.
  • Prepare audit schedules as assigned, and review and approve these schedules.
  • Lead or participate in projects such as new business lines, technology implementations, and staff training on new procedures.
  • Provide backup support for team members as needed, and actively participate in department meetings and activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Code of Ethics and legal requirements.
  • Provide exceptional customer service consistently to all customers.
  • Serve as a role model for staff, clients, and customers, demonstrating positive relations on behalf of Rosecrance.
  • Assume other related responsibilities as delegated by leadership.

Position Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for managing and overseeing financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting. This role includes preparing financial statements, managing budgets, handling account payable and receivable, and ensuring that all financial records are maintained according to legal and regulatory requirements. The Accountant will work closely with management to provide insights into financial performance and support strategic decision‑making, all while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and integrity.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Vision: Must be able to read printed and/or handwritten materials from a variety of sources (75‑100%)
  • Hearing: Must be able to hear well enough to communicate with coworkers (50‑79%); answer incoming phone calls (0‑24%)
  • Standing/Walking/Mobility: Must have mobility between departments within the facility (50‑79%)
  • Climbing/Stooping/Kneeling: (0‑24%)
  • Lifting/Pulling/Pushing: Must exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 5 pounds of force frequently to lift or move objects (25‑49%)
  • Fingering/Grasping/Feeling: Must be able to finger keyboard for computer work and phone equipment for placing/receiving calls (75‑100%)
  • Sitting: must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time when using the computer (75‑100%)

Exposure to bloodborne pathogens requiring the use of universal precautions and/or personal protective equipment.

  • Work Mode: 5 days remote option for the last 2 weeks of the month
Compensation & Rewards

  • Starting salary in Rockford - Bachelors $65,707.20
  • Starting salary in Des Plaines - Bachelors $79,505.71
