Job summary

Rosecrance Behavioral Health is seeking an Accountant to manage financial transactions, prepare statements, and support budgeting and reporting. The role emphasizes accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and timely information for management decision‑making.

You will work across accounts payable/receivable, bank reconciliations, and month-end close, while collaborating with leadership to drive financial insights and process improvements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Prepare, post, and upload journal entries; reconcile accounts; calculate accrued expenses for month‑end closing.
• Review, approve, and ensure journal entries comply with GAAP.
• Process daily or weekly deposits, verify bank receipts, reconcile cash receipts to cash journal postings, maintain check registers, and complete monthly bank reconciliations, including petty cash audits.
• Prepare monthly fee‑for‑service and grant utilization reports, reconcile to revenue accounts, analyze trends, and provide feedback for process improvements.
• Lead or participate in projects such as new business lines, technology implementations, and staff training on new procedures.

Position Summary

The Accountant will manage and oversee financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, compliance with accounting standards, and timely reporting. Responsibilities include preparing financial statements, managing budgets, handling accounts payable and receivable, and maintaining all financial records in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements. The Accountant will work closely with management to provide insights into financial performance and support strategic decision‑making.

Essential Responsibilities

• Work prescribed hours and additional hours as required.
• Prepare, post, and upload journal entries; reconcile accounts; calculate accrued expenses for month‑end closing.
• Review, approve, and ensure journal entries comply with GAAP.
• Process daily or weekly deposits, verify bank receipts, reconcile cash receipts to cash journal postings, maintain check registers, and complete monthly bank reconciliations, including petty cash audits.
• Prepare monthly fee‑for‑service and grant utilization reports, reconcile to revenue accounts, analyze trends, and provide feedback for process improvements.
• Prepare audit schedules as assigned, review and approve these schedules.
• Lead or participate in projects such as new business lines, technology implementations, and staff training on new procedures.
• Provide backup support for team members as needed, and actively participate in department meetings and activities.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with the Code of Ethics and legal requirements.
• Provide exceptional customer service consistently to all customers.
• Serve as a role model for staff, clients, and customers.
• Assume other related responsibilities delegated by leadership.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
• Demonstrated general accounting procedures or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to use accounting software.
• Self‑starter with ability to work independently.
• Ability to collaborate effectively within a team.
• Belief in the mission and vision of Rosecrance.

Schedule & Work Location

Monday‑Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. Work Location: Rosecrance Jackson Recovery Center or RMG‑Chicagoland (Des Plaines, IL). Work Mode: 5 days remote option for the last 2 weeks of the month.

Compensation & Rewards

• Based on education, experience, and credentials.
• Starting salary in Rockford – Bachelors $65,707.20.
• Starting salary in Des Plaines – Bachelors $79,505.71.
