Job summary

CFS, based in the Atlanta metro area, is seeking an Accountant to join a nonprofit finance team. The role focuses on general ledger, reconciliations, financial reporting, and investment accounting across affiliated entities. This is a hybrid position with three in-office days and two remote days weekly.

The ideal candidate has 5+ years in accounting, solid Excel and ERP experience, and a strong commitment to process improvement and compliance within a philanthropy-focused organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Strong general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting experience.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Familiarity with fund accounting, investment accounting, consolidations, or corporate accounting principles.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, allocations, payroll-related entries, and other general ledger transactions.
  • Perform bank and account reconciliations while supporting close activities.
  • Assist with financial reporting, audit prep, tax support, and related schedules.
  • Maintain financial records for affiliated entities and investment activity.
  • Calculate management fees, interest income, and investment-related adjustments.
  • Partner with the team to identify efficiencies and support system enhancements.

Key Responsibilities of the Accountant
  • Prepare journal entries, accruals, allocations, payroll-related entries, and other general ledger transactions.

  • Partner with the team to identify efficiencies and support accounting system enhancements and automation efforts.
Qualifications For The Accountant
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in an Accountant or accounting-related role.
  • Strong experience with general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Nonprofit accounting experience is preferred but not required.
  • Understanding of fund accounting, investment accounting, consolidations, or corporate accounting principles.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience working with accounting software and ERP systems.
