Job summary

A leading construction firm in Atlanta is looking for a dynamic Staff Accountant to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and 1–3 years of related experience. Responsibilities include reconciling balance sheet accounts, preparing tax returns, and supporting financial statement preparations. A DAY IN THE LIFE
  • Assist in reconciling balance sheet accounts monthly and investigating discrepancies.
  • Assist controllers in preparing and monitoring overhead budgets.
  • Work extensively in Microsoft Excel, with spreadsheets with complex formulas and Power Query.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly sales and use tax returns for various local and state entities.
  • Work with controllers and project managers to obtain and renew the appropriate state and local contractor and business licenses.
  • Prepare, post, and reconcile a wide range of journal entries, including job cost accruals and adjustments, ensuring accurate cost allocations, proper period recognition, and overall alignment with company financials.
  • Work with controllers throughout the month end close process, supporting the preparation and review of financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • 1–3 years of related experience.
  • Public accounting experience a plus but not required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with Vista/ Viewpoint Software is a plus.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work under pressure and strict deadlines.
