This position offers the flexibility to work remotely. However, candidates located near our offices in Wall Street, Brooklyn, or Tampa are preferred, as proximity to these locations may be beneficial for occasional in-person collaboration. Remote candidates must be able to travel to one of our offices once per quarter or to clients as needed.
Job Summary:
The Account Manager will support the management of business relationships between the Company and designated customer accounts. This role acts as the face of the company to clients and works both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities include managing an assigned book of business, building and maintaining client and broker relationships, and serving as a liaison between the Operations Team and clients to ensure proper administration of benefit programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Manage relationships between the group and the broker.
- Provide reports to the client group and discuss the statistics contained in the reporting packet.
- Maintain knowledge of ongoing claim issues, funding reinsurance, etc.; proactively identify service issues and attempt to resolve them.
- Work with clients/brokers to resolve ongoing issues.
- Focus on retaining existing business through excellent customer service.
- Support the Account Executive team with new business and renewal tasks.
- Articulate the LEA value proposition to clients and brokers.
- Identify potential opportunities for new sales within existing groups.
- Communicate large claim situations and company oversight/management to clients.
- Resolve group-level issues related to claims, funding, eligibility, etc., by enlisting appropriate resources.
- Report any issues involving the group to leadership.
- Meet with clients personally when appropriate, in addition to regular virtual check-ins.
- Respond to phone calls and emails within one business day.
- Create meeting summaries documenting key points and resolutions.
- Assist with special projects, such as Sales RFP requests.
- Assist in reporting, including weekly, monthly, and quarterly specialty plan analyses.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- 2+ years of Account Manager or Account Executive sales experience in healthcare insurance, with proficiency in managing third-party, self-insured client relationships across various benefit types.
- Producer license in the state worked in; Life Agent license preferred.
- Understanding of employee benefits plans, regulations, and relevant legislation such as Health Care Reform and the American Rescue Plan Act.
- Experience with benefit administration platforms like Javelina is preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and diagnosis codes (ICD-9 & ICD-10) is helpful.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills for internal and external interactions.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and demonstrate collaborative interaction.
- Attention to detail, decision-making skills, confidentiality, and problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to learn, adapt, and accept feedback.
