Responsibilities

  • Support daily transportation operations across assigned accounts, ensuring shipments are planned, tracked, and delivered according to customer expectations
  • Coordinate with Senior Operations Executives and carrier partners to resolve service issues and maintain service continuity
  • Monitor shipment activity, transit performance, and exceptions to proactively address potential disruptions
  • Maintain accurate account information, documentation, and data within TMS and internal systems
  • Apply strong knowledge of LTL and FTL processes, classifications, rating structures, and transportation market dynamics
  • Manage escalated operational challenges and claims in partnership with internal stakeholders
  • Track and analyze account-level KPIs, including service performance, cost efficiency, margin, and accessorial trends
  • Partner with the Senior Account Manager to identify performance gaps and implement corrective action plans
  • Recommend process improvements, routing optimizations, and consolidation opportunities
  • Assist with reporting, scorecards, and performance summaries for leadership and customer reviews
  • Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, service levels, and profitability

They are seeking an experienced Account Manager to support key customer accounts, drive operational performance, and partner closely with internal operations and leadership teams.

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Account Manager to support assigned transportation accounts and help drive customer success, operational excellence, and overall account performance.

This role combines hands-on transportation operations with account management, KPI analysis, customer relationship support, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate understands the complexities of LTL and FTL transportation and can confidently manage competing priorities, resolve escalated issues, and identify opportunities to improve service and profitability.

While this is not currently a formal people-management position, the Account Manager will provide leadership through influence, mentorship, and ownership of account performance, creating an opportunity for future growth into a team leadership role.

Key Responsibilities
Account Execution & Operational Oversight

Client Relationship Support
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customer contacts, shippers, and receivers
  • Provide proactive communication and responsive service to assigned accounts
  • Identify customer needs and help develop transportation solutions aligned with operational capabilities and financial goals
  • Support customer business reviews, presentations, and strategic discussions
  • Serve as an escalation point for operational concerns when the Senior Account Manager is unavailable
  • Provide guidance and informal mentorship to Operations team members and Senior Operations Executives
  • Reinforce established processes, service expectations, and company values
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Carrier Management, Accounting, and Leadership
  • Contribute to onboarding, training, and knowledge sharing across the operations team
  • Lead through influence and take ownership of account performance without requiring formal managerial authority
