Job summary

Jobtailor in Newark, NJ seeks an experienced outside sales professional to develop new business in the transportation sector, manage accounts with multiple locations, and travel to client sites regularly.

You will build relationships, present pricing, collaborate with Operations, and drive growth while maintaining profitability. A BA/BS or 5+ years in sales in transportation is required. This role requires strong communication and negotiating skills, with travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or five years or more of sales experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience in the transportation industry.
  • Very proficient written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret pricing agreements, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Ability to present information effectively to customers, prospects, top management, and public groups.
  • Excellent sales and negotiating skills.
  • Preferred knowledge of hazmat regulations.
  • Basic PC skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • Ability to manage time and work efficiently.
  • Current valid driver’s license required.
  • Ability to travel daily for outside sales calls in all weather.
  • Ability to travel overnight by land and/or air, up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to other employees through example and knowledge sharing.
  • Follow up on potential leads and growth opportunities.
  • Make daily outside sales calls and travel to customer sites.
  • Manage accounts with multiple shipping locations and typically one corporate location.
  • Travel overnight up to 50%.
