The Account Executive will identify new business opportunities, develop customized logistics solutions, and manage customer relationships throughout the entire lifecycle—from initial prospecting and onboarding through execution, retention, and account growth.

What You’ll Do
Drive New Business
- Prospect aggressively and secure new business through cold calling, networking, referrals, and established industry relationships.
- Build and maintain a strong pipeline of qualified opportunities.
- Develop and execute strategic outreach plans that consistently generate new revenue.
- Meet or exceed established sales, growth, and performance objectives.
- Use the company’s reputation, asset-based network, and operational capabilities to establish new customer relationships.
- Identify cross-selling opportunities across multiple transportation service lines.
- Support the company’s broader growth initiatives and expansion into new markets.
Develop Customized Logistics Solutions
- Assess customer transportation needs and design profitable, service-focused solutions.
- Combine company assets with strategic carrier partnerships to provide scalable capacity.
- Work closely with operations, dispatch, and leadership to ensure proposed solutions can be executed successfully.
- Solve complex logistics challenges while protecting customer service and profitability.
Own the Customer Lifecycle
- Manage accounts from initial prospecting through onboarding, execution, retention, and growth.
- Serve as the customer’s primary point of contact.
- Coordinate freight movements, shipment tracking, issue resolution, and customer communication.
- Maintain regular contact with customers to ensure satisfaction and uncover additional opportunities.
- Resolve concerns promptly, professionally, and proactively.
- Increase account penetration through consultative selling and relationship management.
Expand the Dry Bulk Market
- Develop and execute plans to expand the company’s Dry Bulk Transportation footprint beyond its current operating region.
- Identify promising geographic markets, industry verticals, and customer segments.
- Leverage existing customer relationships and industry contacts to accelerate national growth.
- Partner with leadership and operations to create scalable Dry Bulk solutions.
- Help establish the organization as a recognized national provider of Dry Bulk Transportation services.
- Source, qualify, and onboard carrier partners as business needs require.
- Build relationships that provide dependable capacity and competitive pricing.
- Monitor carrier performance and compliance with company standards.
- Expand capacity solutions across multiple transportation modes.
Manage the Pipeline and CRM
- Maintain accurate customer, prospect, opportunity, and carrier information in the CRM.
- Document sales activity, customer interactions, and account performance.
- Use CRM reporting to support forecasting, planning, and business-development decisions.
- Maintain disciplined pipeline management and communicate progress clearly.
Support Operational Excellence
- Collaborate with operations teams to improve efficiency, service, and profitability.
- Analyze transportation processes and recommend practical improvements.
- Proactively address service issues and support continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrate leadership through accountability, initiative, and sound problem-solving.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent transportation or logistics experience will be considered.
- Two or more years of sales experience in transportation, logistics, freight brokerage, intermodal, railroad, trucking, or supply chain services preferred.
- Proven success in new-business development and revenue growth.
- Strong prospecting, cold-calling, negotiation, and closing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain a profitable book of business.
- An existing book of business with fully or partially transferable customer relationships.
- Established industry relationships that can support revenue growth and market expansion.
- Experience opening new geographic territories or expanding an organization’s market presence.
- Strong relationship-management, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively across sales, operations, dispatch, and leadership teams.
- Self-directed, accountable, resilient, and motivated by measurable results.
