This position serves as the senior strategic lead for multi-project accounts. The account director provides management support and oversight for account project leads, drives organic new business growth within existing accounts, develops solutions for enhancing service offerings, and manages financial reporting and profitability functions for the team.

Responsibilities include:
Client Management
  • Communicate with clients about account and medical affairs strategic needs to foster organic growth
  • Facilitate regular touch points with clients to gauge performance and develop relationships
  • Discuss efficiencies and areas of improvement for account and project work with clients
  • Mentor account project leads in client management
Management Support and Oversight
  • Demonstrate management skills in delegation, team development, and performance review compliance
  • Troubleshoot and make independent decisions
  • Engage in development and performance discussions with direct reports
  • Provide staffing and structural recommendations to senior management
  • Ensure team accountability in estimating, budget tracking, reconciliations, and communication with clients
  • Analyze project reports and communicate scope or budget changes
  • Assist in forecast projections, updates, and corporate reporting
  • Develop solutions for profitability and staff utilization
Business Development
  • Identify and quantify growth opportunities
  • Drive organic growth within existing accounts
  • Develop proposals and deliver presentations for new business
  • Improve existing and future service offerings
Professional Experience, Skills, and Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree required; CMPP or advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years in medical communications; 6-10 years preferred
  • Self-starter, capable of working independently or in teams
  • Effective time management and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Understanding of client’s business/category with a strategic approach to solutions
  • Experience in business development and success in managing cross-functional teams
  • Strong analytical, strategic planning, interpersonal, and communication skills

The annual salary ranges from $120,000 to $145,000, based on qualifications and performance, with potential bonuses or commissions.
