The Account Director, Market Access serves as the primary client lead, ensuring the development and execution of patient access strategies that drive treatment adoption, affordability solutions, and healthcare provider engagement. This individual is responsible for building and maintaining trusted client relationships, leading the account team, and ensuring all initiatives align with business objectives, regulatory requirements, and the evolving healthcare landscape.

As a strategic partner to clients, the Account Director must have a deep understanding of patient access challenges, including reimbursement barriers, affordability programs, financial assistance, copay programs, and hub services. This role requires strong leadership, a solutions-oriented mindset, and the ability to develop compelling strategies that optimize the patient journey—from prescription to fulfillment to adherence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor the account team, ensuring the growth, development, and performance of direct reports while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team culture.
  • Oversee all aspects of client engagement, serving as a trusted advisor on patient access, reimbursement, and payer engagement strategies.
  • Develop and execute patient access strategies, ensuring that patients can start and stay on therapy with minimal barriers.
  • Guide patient access communications, including the creation of hub materials, copay program messaging, patient education resources, and reimbursement guides.
  • Help clients navigate payer and reimbursement challenges, developing strategic solutions for prior authorization, step edits, denials, and appeals processes.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (strategy, creative, medical, and analytics) to ensure all deliverables align with patient access goals and payer expectations.
  • Oversee the creation of patient support program materials, ensuring that patients and caregivers understand available financial assistance, affordability programs, and adherence solutions.
  • Work with clients to optimize hub services, field reimbursement teams, and patient support programs, ensuring that real-world patient barriers are identified and addressed.
  • Develop and refine messaging that speaks to healthcare providers, educating them on patient access programs, reimbursement pathways, and prior authorization best practices.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in value-based care, hub models, affordability solutions, and government payer policies, advising clients on new opportunities for patient access optimization.
  • Lead client conversations and workshops on patient access strategy, reimbursement models, and adherence challenges, positioning TJP as a leader in market access marketing.
  • Monitor program effectiveness, analyzing key metrics related to access barriers, affordability program utilization, and patient adherence trends, and adjusting strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure all patient access and reimbursement messaging aligns with regulatory and compliance requirements, including MLR review, OPDP guidance, and HIPAA considerations.
  • Drive account growth, identifying and pursuing organic growth opportunities by expanding TJP’s strategic role in patient access and reimbursement communications.
  • Manage the financial health of accounts, ensuring cost-effective strategies while delivering high-value solutions for clients.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in account management, preferably in patient access, hub services, reimbursement strategy, or healthcare marketing.
  • Strong expertise in market access, patient support programs, reimbursement processes, and payer engagement.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing account team, mentoring direct reports and driving professional growth.
  • Proven ability to translate complex access challenges into clear, actionable strategies for patients, caregivers, healthcare providers, and payers.
  • Deep understanding of the patient journey, including prescription fulfillment, affordability barriers, adherence drivers, and patient support needs.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with a track record of building strong client relationships and driving strategic solutions.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams, working closely with strategy, creative, and medical teams to deliver comprehensive patient access initiatives.
  • Ability to analyze access data, identifying trends and insights that inform patient support program optimization.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, including MLR review, FDA/OPDP regulations, and payer communication guidelines.
  • A strategic thinker with a passion for improving patient outcomes through effective market access solutions.
