Job description

Position Title: Accommodations Assistant

FLSA Status : Non-Exempt

Full-time/Part-time : Full-time

Position Summary: The Accommodations Assistant supports the Lancer Accommodations Program by aiding the Lancer Accommodations Coordinator in coordinating and proctoring accommodated testing, assisting students with learning accommodations, maintaining confidential records, and supervising students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS). This position requires strong organizational skills, professionalism, classroom management, attention to detail, and the ability to maintain a structured, supportive environment for students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lancer Testing Center (LTC) Operations

Prepare the Lancer Testing Center (LTC) each day before student arrival.

Check teacher mailboxes (Community Room and Room 403) each morning for tests and quizzes.

Set up the testing check-in computer and prepare testing materials.

Ensure the testing environment is organized, quiet, and ready for students.

Test Monitoring and Proctoring

Welcome students to the LTC and direct them through the check-in process.

Inform the students of the LTC code of ethics and rules.

Verify student information and check students into the testing system.

Maintain accurate testing records using shared Google Sheets and other tracking documents.

Organize, secure, and file all testing materials in locked file cabinets before and after testing.

Monitor students during quizzes, tests, and exams to ensure compliance with testing rules and Academic Integrity expectations.

Ensure students do not exceed their approved extended-time accommodations.

Immediately report suspected or confirmed academic dishonesty to the Lancer Accommodations Coordinator and complete testing infraction documentation when appropriate.

Proctor accommodated and standardized assessments, including make-up testing, summer school assessments, PSAT, SAT, ACT, Advanced Placement (AP) exams, and other assigned school-based and high-stakes examinations.

Monitor the extended-time testing sign-up spreadsheet.

Transfer student sign-ups to the shared testing check-in/check-out spreadsheet.

Help record when tests are received from teachers and document approved testing times.

Organize and file tests for students awaiting accommodations.

Notify the Lancer Accommodations Coordinator of any missing or late testing materials from teachers.

File and administer make-up tests for non-LAP students and maintain accurate documentation. Organize and proctor make-up final exams after school as requested.

Assist with the planning, preparation, administration, and organization of final exams. Support the Lancer Accommodations Coordinator by preparing testing materials, organizing student files, monitoring sign-ups, proctoring exams, collecting completed exams, taking attendance, and ensuring exams are delivered to Student Services. Assist with make-up final exams and other school-wide testing as assigned.

Student Support

Prepare student passes for orientation meetings.

Under the supervision of the Lancer Accommodations Coordinator, meet with new LAP students to:

Schedule and conduct brief orientation meetings during appropriate class periods.

Introduce the Lancer Testing Center and Learning Lab.

Explain extended-time testing procedures.

In-School Suspension (ISS) Supervision

Aid in supervising students assigned to In-School Suspension (ISS) throughout the school day (except during the employee's lunch period).

Assist students in composing professional emails to teachers, deans, and counselors regarding their ISS assignment and missed coursework.

Maintain a quiet, orderly, structured, and safe learning environment.

Collect, distribute, and monitor classwork provided by teachers.

Ensure students remain engaged and complete assigned academic work.

Enforce school rules, behavioral expectations, and ISS procedures consistently.

Document student attendance, behavior, and work completion.

Communicate behavioral concerns to the Accommodations Coordinator and school administrators as needed.

Distribute student reflection forms to the Accommodations Coordinator and school counselors.

Escort students during break and lunch periods and monitor hallways as assigned.

Record Keeping and Confidentiality

Maintain accurate records related to accommodated testing, ISS supervision, attendance, and student documentation.

Protect the confidentiality of student disability records, testing information, and all educational records in accordance with school policies and applicable privacy laws.

Maintain professionalism in all interactions with students, faculty, and staff.

Other Duties

Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Lancer Accommodations Coordinator.

Experience in a high school setting a plus

Ability to obtain a DPS IVP card required

Flexibility to adjust schedules and responsibilities during peak testing periods and final exams.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. (occasionally until 4:00 p.m.)

Additional hours may be required during final exam preparation and administration periods.
