Job summary

AMPORTS is seeking a dedicated installer to perform quality installations of automotive accessories on OEM vehicles. You will work in a production environment using hand and air tools, following OEM guidelines and safety standards.

The role requires a foundational understanding of vehicle installations, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a TWIC badge. This is a full-time position with overtime and minimal travel expectations.

Qualifications

  • A foundational understanding of vehicle installation is required.
  • High school diploma or GED, or 1-3 months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

  • Perform quality installations of automotive accessories on OEM manufacturer vehicles.
  • Install a wide range of accessories including roof racks, trailer hitches, interior/exterior components, and ECU-related campaigns.
  • Remove wrap, guard, and interior plastics; use hand and air tools; follow diagrams and OEM guidelines.
  • Complete Pre-Delivery Inspections for OEM rental fleets and campaigns needing parts replacement or ECU reflashes.
  • Adhere to timelines and OEM quality control standards; be able to drive cars, trucks, forklifts, and moving equipment.

AMPORTS is a leading provider of port-based automotive and logistics services supporting customers across the United States.

Compensation: $23.12 per hour

Summary/Objective

Install accessories on new vehicles.

Essential Functions
  • Perform quality installations of automotive accessories on OEM manufacturer vehicles.
  • Install accessories including roof rack systems, trailer hitches, wireless charge pads, front and rear park assists, interior illumination kits, exterior body kits, illuminated scuff plates, frameless mirror links, upgraded fog light systems, body decals, rear bumper guards, spoilers and any new accessories put into production.
  • Remove wrap guard and interior plastics.
  • Use hand and air tools to install small and large accessories.
  • Complete Pre-Delivery Inspections for the OEM Manufacturers rental fleet as well as campaign initiatives that require parts replacement or reflash of ECU software.
  • Meet the time requirements of each accessory installation per OEM manufacturer guidelines.
  • Adhere to the OEM manufactures Quality Control guidelines.
  • Ability to drive cars, trucks, forklifts and moving equipment.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to multi-task.
  • Possess general working knowledge of tools.
  • Ability to read and follow diagrams.
  • Ability to drive different models of vehicles with auto and manual transmission.
Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports.

Well-lighted, production setting, outdoor/indoor shop environment or enclosed vehicle with adequate ventilation and protection from extreme weather conditions.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is generally required to stand, walk, bend and twist; use hands to finger, reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must lift or move office products and supplies, up to 50 pounds occasionally (frequently it will be around 25 Lbs.) Position requires bending, lifting, standing, and sitting throughout the day. Applicants must be flexible and able to work overtime when necessary. Applicants must be able to speak, read, and follow directions in English

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are primarily 8 hours each day, Monday through Friday on a day shift. This position often requires overtime.

Travel

Minimal overnight travel (up to 10%) by land and/or air.

Required Education and Experience

A foundational understanding of vehicle installation, along with some degree of experience or training, is required.

Preferred Education and Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Operations

Basic personal computer skills including electronic mail, word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, etc.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance

Must be able to obtain TWIC badge (Transportation Working Identification Card).

Must have a valid Driver’s License.
