Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • One year of library experience preferred, ideally in a law library.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Experience working with a diverse student body, faculty, and staff.
  • Ability to function both as a team member and independently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead circulation and reserve services and oversee related processes.
  • Organize creative promotional activities and manage public-facing spaces and technology.
  • Support collections and resource availability and analyze access services for improvements.
  • Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and supervise over 20 student assistants; manage employment records and budgets.
  • Provide general information, reference, and research services to the law school community.

Job Description:

The Roger Williams University Law Library seeks an Access Services Coordinator to join the law library in August 2026. Reporting to the Associate Law Librarian for Research and Administration, you'll be front and center in fostering a supportive environment for students and faculty alike.


Key Responsibilities:

In addition to leading and providing comprehensive circulation and reserve services, and overseeing the processes and systems that support them, the Access Services Coordinator helps drive innovation and student engagement by organizing creative promotional activities; manages public-facing library spaces, access, and technology; supports collections and resource availability; and assesses and analyzes access services to drive process and service improvements.


As the supervisor of the largest student employment workforce at the law school, the Access Services Coordinator recruits, hires, trains, schedules, and supervises over 20 student library assistants; manages all student employment processes; monitors student employment budgets, work-study funding, and wage-related requirements, including reporting and budget projections; maintains training materials; and maintains student employment records for verification and administration.


Finally, as a member of the Research and Access Services team, the Access Services Coordinator provides general information, reference, and research services to the law school community and participates in complex research projects.


Requirements:


  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.

  • One year of library experience, preferably in a Law Library. Strong service orientation.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills to interact with faculty, students, visitors and staff.

  • Experience working with a student body, faculty, and staff with diverse backgrounds and experiences.

  • Ability to function as a team member and work independently with little or no supervision.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks and projects.

  • Attention to detail is essential to complete tasks accurately and on time.

  • Must be able to work evening and weekend hours, as needed to ensure library coverage.

  • Dedication to professional development.

  • Intermediate computer skills, including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


Preferred Qualifications


  • One year of supervisory experience.
