Job summary

Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI is seeking a Psychologist in Counseling to provide comprehensive psychological services, promote student success, and support a diverse campus community. The role requires licensure or eligibility, APA-accredited doctoral training, and coordination with the Counseling Center and campus partners.

Responsibilities include individual/group therapy, crisis management, supervision of trainees, and outreach initiatives across campus.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed or license eligible in Rhode Island within one year.
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an APA-approved program.
  • Individual and group clinical skills with experience in crisis intervention and consultation.
  • Possess sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.
  • Adherence to legal and ethical standards.
  • Experience in one of the following areas: substance use, sports psychology, diversity, Title IX, and/or eating disorders.
  • Experience in coordinating campus-wide mental health education programs.
  • Pre-doctoral internship and/or post-doctoral fellowship in a university or college counseling center.
  • At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Coordinate and assess Counseling Center efforts in a particular area (e.g., substance use, sports psychology, diversity).
  • Extended hours required on infrequent occasions for outreach, campus events, or emergency situations.
  • This is a full-time 10-month position.

The Psychologist will provide a coordinated and comprehensive system of psychological services aimed at maximizing students' emotional development and student success while promoting respect for self, others, property, and diversity within the Roger Williams University community.


Counseling Services

Provide individual and group counseling with students experiencing personal/social/family and related concerns while adhering to legal and ethical standards. Some after-hours crisis management as assigned by Director.

Ph.D. or Psy.D. in counseling or clinical psychology from an A.P.A. approved program.


Individual and group clinical skills with experience in crisis intervention and consultation.


Possess sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural differences.


Adherence to legal and ethical standards.


Experience in one of the following areas: substance use, sports psychology, diversity, Title IX, and/or eating disorders.


Experience in coordinating campus-wide mental health education programs.


Pre-doctoral internship and/or post-doctoral fellowship in a university or college counseling center.


At the University's discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be accepted where the candidate can demonstrate, to the satisfaction of the University, an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
