Job summary

Behavioral Health Network, Inc (BHN) is seeking an Access Navigator Supervisor to lead the CBHC Access team in Western Massachusetts. This role focuses on supervision, staff development, and ensuring timely access to behavioral health services for diverse populations.

The position requires a high school diploma with 3–5 years in healthcare and at least 3 years in behavioral health or care-management settings, plus prior supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision, training, guidance, and performance feedback to Access Navigators and staff.
  • Coach team members on engagement, enrollment, and care-management connections.
  • Collaborate with program leadership to ensure timely access to care.
  • Serve as liaison across BHN levels of care and connect individuals to internal/external resources.
  • Monitor caseloads, engagement activity, referrals, and documentation in EHRs.
  • Analyze performance indicators and support improvement plans with program director.
  • Ensure department goals and staffing requirements are met.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, and staff development.
  • Address employee performance with coaching and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Provide case consultation and staff education related to behavioral health.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and other supervisory duties.

What You Will Do
  • Provide effective supervision, training, guidance, consultation, support, and performance feedback to Access Navigators and Access Navigator Supervisor I staff.
  • Coach team members on strategies that increase engagement, enrollment, and successful connection to care-management and other appropriate behavioral health services.
  • Collaborate with the Access Navigation Program Director, Navigation Supervisors, Access Center clinical staff, and other BHN programs to ensure timely, efficient, and high-quality access to care.
  • Serve as a liaison across BHN levels of care and help staff connect individuals with appropriate internal services, external providers, and community resources.
  • Monitor caseloads, engagement activity, referrals, enrollment outcomes, and timely documentation in applicable electronic health records to promote accountability and service quality.
  • Organize and analyze key performance indicators, identify trends or barriers, and partner with the Program Director on performance-improvement plans when CBHC expectations are not met.
  • Ensure department goals, CBHC performance specifications, staffing requirements, and position-specific expectations are consistently met.
  • Participate in hiring, onboarding, orientation, training, scheduling, team meetings, and ongoing development of Access Navigation staff.
  • Address employee-performance concerns appropriately, including coaching, documentation, progressive discipline, and participation in disciplinary actions in accordance with BHN guidelines.
  • Provide case consultation and formal or informal staff education related to behavioral health, medical concerns, care management, and other needs affecting individuals served.
  • Participate in the Access Navigation on-call rotation and complete other supervisory or administrative responsibilities as needed.
Who You Are
  • High school diploma and three to five years of experience in a related healthcare field required; associate degree preferred.
  • At least three years of experience working with behavioral health, care-management, or related populations required.
  • Previous supervisory experience required.
  • Knowledge of mental health conditions, the relationship between behavioral and physical health needs, substance-use conditions, healthcare systems, and care management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop staff, interpret performance data, manage caseload and workflow expectations, and implement effective performance-improvement strategies.
  • Working knowledge of community resources, referral processes, electronic health records, internet tools, word-processing applications, and email systems.
  • Professional demeanor and strong telephone, customer-service, verbal, and written communication skills when working with individuals served, families, providers, and care teams.
  • Strong organization, time management, conflict-resolution, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Cultural responsiveness and the ability to build trust and provide high-quality service to individuals and colleagues from diverse backgrounds and with complex needs.
